END MILLS - General Purpose, 4-flute, High Speed Steel - TiN Coated

An End Mill is a shank-type Milling cutter. It is distinguished from the drill bit, in its application, geometry, and manufacture. Whereas a drill bit can only cut in the axial direction, a milling bit can generally cut in all directions, though some cannot cut axially. Several broad categories of end- and face-milling tools exist, such as center-cutting versus non-center-cutting (whether the mill can take plunging cuts); and categorization by number of flutes; by helix angle; by material; and by coating material. Each category may be further divided by specific application and special geometry.

The End Mills that you will find in our website are 4-flute, General Purpose End Mills. Two of the end teeth are ground to center, allowing these end mills to plunge into solid material at the beginning of a slotting cut. End Mills on this page are offered as TN945 TiN Coated. The high lubricity of TiN facilitates chip flow, resists galling and reduces heat generated in the metal removal process. The multiple flute design will produce a high surface finish.
